Women&design by Maison&Objet encourages growth of connections among women in the industry

Women&design ny Maison&Objet initiative encourages the growth of connections among women leading innovative and creative projects in the decor, design, and hospitality industries. This international network aims to serve as a vital platform for recognition, visibility, and exchange among women professionals making significant impacts in these fields.

Mélanie Leroy, Managing Director of Maison&Objet and SAFI, launched Women&design by Maison&Objet—an international network designed to connect female entrepreneurs, share visions and challenges, and harness the power of collective strength. 'It will be an inclusive and dynamic network,' says Leroy, 'because I meet extraordinary women every day whose culture and modesty often hold them back from fully expressing their talents.'

At the inaugural talk on September 8th, Leroy invited three accomplished professionals to share their experiences: Émilie Viargues-Metge, CEO of Christofle; Caroline Petit-Mason, founder of the ceramics brand Three Seven; and interior designer Daphné Desjeux. They view Women&design as a self-promotion network aimed at building confidence and visibility for female entrepreneurs, who, while well-represented in interior design, are often underappreciated.

Émilie Viargues-Metge emphasises the importance of self-confidence, stating, 'People are at the heart of success because even the best idea won't work with the wrong team.' Caroline Petit-Mason adds that it's crucial to educate younger generations and that women should stop apologizing for taking up space. Daphné Desjeux believes in collaborating with those who share your values, underscoring the importance of a supportive professional network.

The feedback from the talk was overwhelmingly positive, demonstrating the anticipation for this network within the industry. Leroy enthusiastically notes that this initiative feels like a natural and urgent step for Maison&Objet, which has been committed to revealing global talent for the past 30 years. Each edition of Maison&Objet Paris will now feature a conference where leading women in design will share their experiences.

The demand for a dynamic organisation that includes both women leading innovation and their male allies is strong. At a recent Women&design dinner hosted by Antoine Ménard, rich conversations among a diverse group of attendees highlighted the wealth of connections and the strength of the collective. With this initiative, Maison&Objet has laid a strong foundation for building a future together, driven by the belief that we are active contributors to change.
