Re:Quiet unveils Sound of Light collection

'Our goal was to create a distinctive element that would inspire interior designers'

At the Orgatec 2024 exhibition, Re:Quiet presented a unique collection of decorative acoustic light fixtures — Sound of light. This was made possible through a collaboration between the Ukrainian manufacturer of acoustic solutions, interior accessories, and furniture Re:Quiet and the Czech design studio IHOR. Together, they developed a collection of decorative light fixtures that not only adorn and illuminate interiors but also enhance their acoustic properties. The collection includes both freestanding and suspended elements, addressing the needs of modern interiors, where minimalist design and large open spaces often create new acoustic challenges.

'Our mission is to bring back the joy of the workday and reduce stress with innovative products aimed at improving acoustic comfort in spaces,' says Stanislava Krugliakova, co-founder of the brand.

Aesthetic and functionality combined

The collection combines functionality and aesthetics, offering solutions for spaces where insufficient attention to acoustics reduces comfort. 'We have become more sensitive to this problem. Noise in restaurants, cafes, or open-plan offices diminishes the quality of life,' says designer Igor Sabadosh. 'In minimalist design, we have abandoned elements such as curtains, wallpapers, or large decorations that absorbed sound. Our passion for clean forms created a new challenge — acoustic solutions,' adds Sara Matisova.

The fixtures in the collection are designed not only to aesthetically complement the interior but also to improve its acoustics. The collection offers a solution that easily integrates into different environments, from offices and historic buildings to temporary events where it's essential to quickly create a comfortable environment without significant construction work.

The design of the collection is based on two principles: acoustic function and decorative aesthetics. The need to arrange a large area of acoustic material in a compact form led to a radial layout, which in its technical version resembled radiators. 'We transformed the functional shape by adding rounded leaf forms, creating floral compositions that add softness and elegance to the light fixtures,' explains Sara Matisova. 'Our goal was to create a distinctive element that would inspire interior designers. We prepared a whole palette of colors, combinations, and compositions for them,' adds Igor Sabadosh.

The collection is a cohesive system of several compositional blocks, allowing light fixtures of various sizes and colors to be combined into impressive compositions.

Innovative materials and sustainable design
The absorbing elements of Sound of Light are made from acoustic material based on recycled PET bottles. This is an eco-friendly and easy-to-maintain material, making the collection not only efficient but also environmentally sustainable. During the design phase, sustainability was carefully considered — the fixtures are assembled using only mechanical connections, without adhesives or sealants. This makes it easy to disassemble the fixtures into primary parts for replacement and subsequent recycling.
