Gubi parts ways with controversial chairman

Lars Munch is no longer the chairman of Gubi, the Danish design company, as of November 1, 2024. The decision was confirmed by Gubi and reported by Børsen, with the company stating that the leadership change aligns with its ongoing transformation from a family-owned business to a global design brand. Gubi's majority shareholder, Axcel, expressed that it was time to bring in new leadership with more sales and marketing experience to guide the company through its next phase of growth.

Munch's departure comes after a turbulent year for him in Danish business circles. Earlier in 2024, he resigned as chairman of JP/Politikens Hus just a month after taking the role. His brief tenure was marred by significant criticism, particularly regarding his high annual salary of DKK 2.5 million, more than double that of his predecessor, which sparked backlash. In May 2024, Munch stepped down, citing a lack of necessary support to drive the company through the needed changes.

Gubi's decision to part ways with Munch reflects the company's need for leadership aligned with its international expansion goals. The new chairperson is expected to bring expertise in sales and marketing to complement Gubi's ambitious growth strategy.
