Danish export of goods falls in September

In September, Denmark saw a 2.1% decline in the total export of goods and services, amounting to DKK 172.7 billion. At the same time, imports fell by 0.4% to DKK 142.9 billion. Over the past three months, total exports increased by 3.7%, while imports saw a slight rise of 0.1%. These figures are based on current prices and adjusted for normal seasonal variations.

Exports affect trade balance in September
Denmark's current account surplus in September stood at DKK 35.1 billion, a decrease of DKK 3.6 billion compared to August. The surplus from goods exports fell by DKK 7.2 billion, while the surplus from services exports rose by DKK 4.0 billion.

Exports to the US drive growth in Danish trade
Exports to Denmark's largest export market, the United States, totaled DKK 251 billion in the first nine months of 2024, an increase of DKK 44 billion from the same period in 2023. This growth was primarily driven by non-cross-border goods, which rose by 47%, while goods crossing the Danish border decreased by 17%.

Half of Denmark's exports to the U.S. consist of goods that don't cross the Danish border, such as products processed abroad, which totaled DKK 120 billion in 2024. These goods may be manufactured in the U.S. or sent from other countries.

Balance of payments adjustments
The surplus for the balance of payments' current account has been revised upward by DKK 16.9 billion for January-August 2024. Revenues were adjusted up by DKK 19.4 billion, while expenses were increased by DKK 2.5 billion.
