The Hansgrohe Group has been awarded the Platinum Medal in the EcoVadis sustainability rating, the highest accolade for its sustainability performance. This places the manufacturer of faucets and showers from Germany among the top 1% of all 130,000 companies assessed. This is the third time that the company has used the annual systematic evaluation of the globally recognized rating to analyze progress, identify potential for improvement and create greater transparency regarding its sustainability performance thanks to comparable benchmarks from a neutral service provider.
'Only by constantly monitoring and evaluating our sustainability activities can we continuously gain important insights and opportunities for comparison. This is the basis on which we initiate new projects and changes in all areas of the company,' explains Rebecca Weigold, Head of Green Company Hansgrohe SE. 'Comprehensive ethics and compliance training for our own employees, the integration of social and ecological issues into the company's purchasing guidelines and support for national and international sustainability networks and initiatives are some of the successful measures that led to the leap from silver to platinum in the previous year.'
Hans Jürgen Kalmbach, Chairman of the Executive Board of Hansgrohe SE, joined the Executive Board of the Water Europe platform in October. The Brussels-based association is committed to building a water-safe, sustainable and water-intelligent society throughout Europe and beyond. In November, it signed the so-called Windsor Declaration. It is the result of a summit organized by the British Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA), at which ten of the world's largest sanitaryware manufacturers met for the first time at the British royal family's private residence, Windsor Castle. There, they pledged to develop new technologies for resource-saving water use and greater hygiene, such as touchless controls, resource-saving flushing systems and surfaces that inhibit the growth of microorganisms.
'Together with other industry representatives, universities and technology providers, we are consistently pursuing our path of green transformation,' explains Hans Jürgen Kalmbach. 'We are delighted to have been awarded EcoVadis Platinum for our comprehensive sustainability management, which has been an integral part of our corporate culture for many decades, and it also shows our business partners, suppliers and customers that we are on the right path towards sustainability. Of course, it also spurs us on to continue pursuing our sustainability initiatives in a goal-oriented and ambitious manner and to align our actions with the well-being of our planet.'
