At this year's Brussels Furniture Fair, the Austrian brand Voglauer captivated visitors with its nature-inspired furniture collections, blending the rugged beauty of the Alps with modern craftsmanship. The brand, renowned for its dedication to traditional woodworking and innovative design, showcased new additions like the Vtektura collection, alongside favourites such as Vrock and Valpin, creating a unique experience of Alpine style adapted for urban living.
The inspiration for Voglauer's designs is rooted in the breathtaking Alpine landscape: vivid blue skies, ancient grey rock formations, and shimmering glaciers. This connection to nature is at the heart of Voglauer's mission to bring the essence of the Alps into homes, creating furniture that bridges the gap between wild, unspoiled nature and modern interior design.

The Vtektura Collection: a touch of the glaciers
One of the highlights at the Voglauer booth was Vtektura, a versatile new collection designed for living and dining spaces. Vtektura offers a sophisticated mix of natural wood, leather, loden (traditional wool fabric), and an innovative material known as "Firnglas" — a pigmented glass inspired by the crystalline textures of glaciers. Available in both a light "Firnglas white" and a dark "Firnglas dark," the glass lends a mystical, almost frosted quality to the furniture, enhancing its Alpine-inspired allure. Rustic oak wood complements the glass, showcasing the brand's commitment to high-quality materials and refined craftsmanship.
Vrock and Valpin: merging tradition and modernity
In addition to Vtektura, Voglauer presented its successful Vrock and Valpin collections, each bringing a unique interpretation of Alpine charm. Vrock combines black-grey Alpine granite with either aged oak or wild walnut, highlighting the striking contrast between rough stone and smooth wood surfaces. The rugged, water-blasted stone finish reflects the raw, mountainous terrain, while the brushed or oiled wood adds a modern touch, embodying Voglauer's dynamic design ethos.
The Valpin collection offers a different take, blending reclaimed wood with pure wool and glass for a warm, rustic aesthetic. With its nod to traditional barns, Valpin evokes a sense of nostalgia while seamlessly fitting into contemporary spaces. The collection is an homage to Alpine craftsmanship, bringing an authentic touch to urban interiors.
Bringing nature indoors
Voglauer's commitment to bringing Alpine nature into everyday living spaces resonated strongly at the Brussels Furniture Fair, inviting visitors to experience the mountains within their own homes. By merging natural materials, traditional craftsmanship, and modern design, Voglauer successfully transports the timeless allure of the Alps into contemporary interiors, leaving visitors inspired and anticipating their next mountain getaway.
