WOODSOFT, founded in 2017 as a family-owned company, combines extensive experience, resources, and ideas with the dedication of a team of like-minded professionals to produce high-quality beds. With production based in Kyiv (Ukraine), the company has strategically chosen to specialise exclusively in a niche market. This focus has fostered a deep expertise and market insight, enabling WOODSOFT to deliver exceptional value to clients.
Founders and owners: Bohdan Nikolaienko, Tetiana Nikolaienko and their baby Matthew.
What inspired the team to focus on creating designer beds, and how does Woodsoft approach the design and production process to ensure both comfort and style?
'Our journey began with a vision to create an exceptional product by harnessing a passionate team of professionals' collective experience, resources, and innovative ideas. This collaborative spirit motivates us to become a leader in the bed manufacturing industry, ensuring that our customers can always rely on the unwavering quality of our products.
We made a strategic decision to focus exclusively on a niche market that allows us to cultivate a profound understanding of our customer's needs and preferences. This concentrated approach has empowered us to develop specialised, tailored solutions that deliver exceptional value and satisfaction to the Client.
Located in Kyiv, our modern production facility is the backbone of our operations. From idea to implementation, each bed goes through a series of production processes: creation of drawings and layout, prototype, testing, formation of technological maps, and launch into mass production. All these stages require many resources and means. The critical components of our production process are a motivated team, modern equipment, and faith in our product.'
Can you tell us more about the materials and techniques Woodsoft uses to achieve the quality and durability your beds are known for?
'In production, we use only the best materials with the appropriate certification.
Bed frame: We use certified board materials (plywood, fibreboard, chipboard), pine timber, and filler (elastic polyurethane foam and syntepon) for the bed frame.
Fabrics: The fabrics we use are mainly from European and Turkish manufacturers; each client can choose the one that suits them.
Lifting mechanism: We use lifting mechanisms from Polish manufacturers.
Furniture and metal frame: all main furniture we use in bed is metal, and we make all other metal accessories ourselves (including the metal frame).
We are confident in our quality, so we guarantee our beds for 3 years.'
How does Woodsoft balance modern design trends with the unique aesthetic preferences of your Ukrainian and international customers?
'We currently work in 5 European countries. To our surprise, consumer preferences regarding the choice of model and even fabric of Ukrainian and European customers are very similar. After entering new countries, we may face the fact that the product must be adapted to consumer preferences. But we are also not standing still and are constantly working on new models, which we hope will be liked by customers in Ukraine and abroad.'
Everyone knows that the situation in Ukraine is turbulent. Has this affected your business operations, and if so, how are you dealing with it?
'Our team has faced various upheavals and difficulties every year since our foundation date. In the first years of work, it was COVID-19 that prepared us to quickly adapt to changes in the work of the entire market. But these were trifles compared to the cruel war that the terrorist state started against Ukraine. The beginning of the war affected our business, as 99 percent of all enterprises in Ukraine. We resumed production in April 2022 and have already started receiving new orders in May. We expected a high rejection rate, but to our surprise, this rate was not significant.
Despite all the challenges that have befallen our company and country, we have increased our production capacity from year to year, improving our product and creating new models.
We are deeply grateful to our dedicated employees and the armed forces who protect and empower us to operate in these challenging times. The unwavering support of our people inspires us every day to do our part to contribute to a brighter future for Ukraine. Many of our colleagues and relatives are now in the ranks of the armed forces of Ukraine, and at WOODSOFT, we remain steadfast in our mission to bring our victory closer through our work.'
As Woodsoft expands internationally, what challenges and opportunities do you see for the brand in new markets?
'Currently, we have personally identified all our partners in various countries. The main challenge we face is finding a reliable and suitable partner with whom we can establish long-term business relationships. As you know, gaining the trust of a manufacturer from Ukraine is particularly challenging, especially given the ongoing full-scale war that has lasted for three years. Therefore, participating in international exhibitions is extremely beneficial in this context.
We also see opportunities for growth in other markets, as this diversification can enhance sales and provide greater business stability.'
Looking to the future, what are some of the goals Woodsoft aims to achieve, both in terms of product innovation and global presence?
'WOODSOFT is dedicated to evolving its product offerings, blending modern design with top-tier comfort and quality. Rooted in a commitment to excellence, the company aims to expand its production within Ukraine and into European markets, with strategic plans already in motion. Beyond manufacturing, WOODSOFT strives to positively impact its community and support national rebuilding efforts. Since its founding, the company has set ambitious goals, earning trust both domestically and internationally as it continues to grow.'
