Space Copenhagen, the Danish design studio, has completed the interiors for Aiayu's latest showroom, marking the fourth store Space Copenhagen has designed for the Danish luxury lifestyle brand. Located in Østerbro's exclusive residential area in old Copenhagen, with grand views of The Lakes, Space Copenhagen has meticulously crafted Aiayu's showroom to provide a peaceful, soft, and calm retail experience.
As you enter the showroom, customers are greeted by a carefully crafted wooden counter, serving as a distinct centerpiece that anchors the space. The counter is complemented by a beautiful chiseled gray stone floor, embodying Space Copenhagen's design approach, which seamlessly blends timeless materials and foundational principles with an elevated, sophisticated contemporary style. Moving through the adjacent spaces, natural materials like light oak, St. Leo tactile plaster, raw natural stone, and treated metals create a warm, embracing environment. Essential knitted, and woven items harmonise with antiques, sculptural objects, and gentle lighting.
Aiayu's collection is thoughtfully displayed on various surfaces. Materials, techniques, and colorways of each piece highlight the high-quality products in a minimal and natural style—whether hanging from a hook on a plastered wall, displayed on an antique surface, suspended from a rail of burnt steel, or resting on a beautifully crafted oak table or shelf. This exquisite showroom staging encourages consumers to slow down and appreciate skilled craftsmanship, artistry, and long-lasting design.
The design philosophy of the showroom aligns with Space Copenhagen's commitment to "Slow Aesthetics," focusing on natural materials and craftsmanship with quality, longevity, and a deliberate slowness inherent in its practice. Material selections prioritize wood, natural stone, tiles, and a subdued colour palette with subtle textures. Each material is chosen for its inherent elegance and durability, emphasizing simplicity and utility, and grounding the space in its Danish heritage.
