himolla is not just another furniture manufacturer, but a storyteller of comfort and craftsmanship. For over 75 years, more than just furniture has been crafted in the heart of Bavaria; sanctuaries for life's meaningful moments have been created. With 2,700 master craftspeople, the company has evolved from a small family workshop in 1948 into one of Europe's furniture powerhouses, all while maintaining its family-owned essence.
What truly sets this brand apart is a comprehensive approach to furniture design. Every piece undergoes rigorous testing and refinement in state-of-the-art R&D facilities. Significant investments in cutting-edge machinery and sustainable practices ensure that choosing Himolla means investing in furniture built to last.
Under the creative direction of Chief Designer Tamara Härty, a unique design language has been developed – bold yet timeless, with a passion for technology and a focus on innovation that goes beyond traditional furniture making. This commitment has led to patents and the prestigious German Innovation Award. The goal is not just to build furniture, but to engineer the furniture classics of tomorrow.

You recently attended the Brussels Furniture Fair. What did you present there, and what were the visitors' reactions?
'We arrived in Brussels with one mission: to take breaths away – and we absolutely nailed it. This wasn't just a presentation; it was a showstopper. Visitors were stunned by what they saw at the himolla stand, and for good reason. We didn't just bring updates; we brought world premieres and completely fresh developments. Our approach to international shows is anything but casual, and Brussels was no exception. We crafted a collection specifically tailored to the Benelux market, and the response? Pure euphoria from every single visitor and customer.
The magic behind this success stems from the unmistakable creative vision of Tamara Härty, who is rendering responsible for marketing, product and design. She designed both stand and collection. Her collaboration with Monika Schaumeier, our Benelux Export Manager, created an exceptional synergy – truly teamwork at its finest.
Picture this: luxe leathers meeting our custom-developed signature purple, bold pink Q2 fabrics on statement wingbacks, and the show-stealing Pöff collection that had everyone talking. This trio of comfort rebels – a curved club chair, round recliner and oval daybed – rocks a plush teddy fabric that's pure indulgence. But we didn't stop there. Our S-Lounger series channels high fashion with its quilted patterns, while revolutionising comfort with a smart S-M-L sizing system that adapts to every body type. Add our innovative standing aid with heart balance feature, and you've got more than furniture – you've got the future of living comfort, and it's unmistakably himolla.'
How important are sustainability and innovation to himolla's business model, and what new initiatives or technologies are you exploring to stay ahead?
'Sustainability isn't just a buzzword for us – it's in our DNA. We're proud to carry every relevant eco-label, but what really sets us apart is our holistic approach to sustainability. Think minimal waste production, sustainably sourced materials, and manufacturing processes that would make environmental scientists smile.
But what truly makes our hearts race is the perfect marriage of comfort and innovation. Our furniture isn't just environmentally conscious – it's engineering excellence you can feel. Every curve, every mechanism, every material is chosen with both the planet and your comfort in mind. We're not just meeting our responsibility to future generations; we're redefining what sustainable luxury feels like.'
How has the recent downturn in the German market affected himolla's strategies, and what adjustments have you made to address these economic pressures?
'The pandemic didn't just change the market – it revolutionised how people view their living spaces. We've seen this as an opportunity to innovate rather than a setback. Today's furniture needs to be a Swiss Army knife: multifunctional, sustainable, and personally meaningful. We're riding the wave of new design preferences – think ethereal, light aesthetics punctuated with unexpected splashes of colour, like soft pinks and lavenders dancing against neutral canvases. While others chase trends, we're creating timeless pieces that tell stories.'
Could you share your perspective on the future, particularly from himolla?
'We're not just furniture makers – we're future shapers. Design isn't just about aesthetics; it's our language for connecting with people's lives and dreams.
Design is our key differentiator, while being a conduit to communicate what himolla brand stands for. That will always be the case, irrespective of what's going on in terms of new technologies: it's what the product represents, and its relevance in a modern context. As manufacturers and designers, it's our job to make that all-important emotional connection with our customers.
We're evolving Himolla beyond being a mere furniture manufacturer into a lifestyle powerhouse that sets the pace in design, form, and function. Our distinctive design approach isn't static – it's constantly evolving, always pushing boundaries while staying true to our quality DNA. The future of furniture is being written right now, and we're holding the pen. Stay tuned – the best chapters of our story are still to come.'
Do you anything else want to share?
'Nothing beats the energy of face-to-face interactions with our customers. At our international shows we're not just showcasing furniture; we're demonstrating our commitment to joy, quality, and innovation. We believe in being more than a supplier - we're a trusted partner you can rely on. "himolla works" isn't just a slogan; it's our promise of unwavering quality and support. We're excited to showcase how our brand can transform homes.'
