Interview with the new CEO

Jason Phillips to take over the role of CEO at Phillips Collection from his father

Effective December 1, Jason Phillips will step into the role of CEO at the US-based furniture and decor company Phillips Collection, succeeding his father, Mark Phillips, who will transition to the position of chairman. We interview Jason to learn more about his plans for the company. 'I'd like to express my gratitude to my father, Mark, for the incredible legacy he's built at Phillips Collection. His passion for design and his commitment to people have shaped this company into what it is today. I'm excited to lead Phillips Collection forward with the same dedication, and I look forward to continuing to provide our clients with unique, inspiring designs that reflect the best of our brand,' he says.

Can you tell us more about the history of Phillips Collection and how it was founded?
'Phillips Collection was founded over 40 years ago by my parents, Mark and Julie Phillips, with a passion for combining art and nature into functional design. What began as a love for collecting unique pieces and travelling the world has evolved into an internationally recognised brand known for its organic contemporary aesthetic. We're proud to be a family-owned business with a commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation—a foundation that continues to guide us today.'

You will assume the role of CEO soon. Can you tell us more about this transition?
'Stepping into the role of CEO is both an honour and an exciting challenge. My father, Mark, will remain involved as Chairman, supporting me with his years of insight while giving me the opportunity to lead Phillips Collection into its next chapter. I've spent years learning from him and gaining hands-on experience in every part of the business, and I'm looking forward to carrying on his legacy while bringing a fresh perspective to our brand. This transition allows us to continue building on what's made Phillips Collection successful while exploring new directions and opportunities.'

What are your plans for the company as its future CEO?
'As CEO, my focus will be on expanding our product offerings, especially as we move toward a "whole home" vision that includes new categories like seating, storage, and bedroom furniture. I'm also committed to enhancing our sustainability practices and using technology to improve our design and production processes. We want to stay innovative and flexible, responding to evolving consumer preferences while staying true to our roots in craftsmanship and artistry. My goal is to ensure Phillips Collection remains a trusted brand that continues to inspire our clients.'

In what markets is the brand most active?
'We're very active in the US, particularly in High Point and Las Vegas, where we have our flagship showrooms. Additionally, Phillips Collection has a strong presence internationally, and we're continually expanding our reach in commercial, hospitality, and residential markets. Our products resonate with designers, retailers, and hospitality clients who value unique, sustainable design, and we're excited to continue growing in these areas.'

How is the market right now in the US? Are there any challenges?
'The US market is gradually recovering, with a renewed focus on quality and sustainable design. While there are still challenges like fluctuating material costs and supply chain disruptions, we're seeing increased demand for pieces that offer both function and aesthetic appeal. Consumers are looking for investment-worthy pieces, and we're prepared to meet that need with products that bring long-term value to their spaces.'

What are the future plans for the company?
'Looking ahead, our goal is to expand into new product categories and strengthen our sustainable sourcing and manufacturing practices. We'll continue exploring innovative materials and design processes, and we're investing in technology to streamline production and improve our customer experience. The future of Phillips Collection is about blending innovation with the timeless values we've always upheld—craftsmanship, creativity, and a commitment to sustainability.'
