Styling holiday greenery the Studio McGee way

There are few things more festive than bringing the outdoors in, even if it's faux. Studio McGee has given a few golden tips for styling holiday greenery.

Whether you opt for natural or faux greenery, a little bit can go a long way in bringing a fresh and festive feel to your home. Greenery has a way of making any space come to life, especially during the holidays.

Studio McGee suggests filling one's home with lush textural elements that are simple but beautiful, and experimenting with unique ways to style your holiday greenery is one of the perks of styling your holiday accessories each year.

Mix-and-match
A garland is the perfect way to add a lot of texture and colour to your holiday palette. These can be shaped in a lot of different forms to bring instant life to every vignette. Owner of the Studio, Shea McGee suggests draping them off to one side on a mantel, styling them on shelving, and tying them with ribbon on banisters, as well as placing them unexpectedly throughout the home for added interest.

While there are times when a single garland will do the trick, Studio McGee suggests mixing multiple pieces to add even more drama and dimension. Even mixing different types of greenery like pine and eucalyptus can go a long way in creating that freshly foraged look.

Add embellishments
Studio McGee suggests adding embellishments like ribbons, bells, and lights to greenery to add a hint of texture or colour. Plus, it's a great way to bring some structure to natural greenery.

Tying a long, loose bow at the top of a wreath or the end of a garland on a staircase can go a long way. Incorporating bells, ornaments, and natural elements like berries or pine cones, is another great way to elevate your greenery and make it feel personal. Add a little wire or twine and attach your additions to the wiring of the wreath or directly on the garland, and you have a custom creation. Lastly, adding lights to your garlands (or even wreaths!) is a great way to take the festive feelings up a notch.

Drape unexpectedly
While wreaths are traditionally styled on front doors, they can be styled all over the home. Hung along a star banister, in a window, on a mirror, or even on your kitchen hood or built-in shelving, they bring an unexpected festive element that is as playful as it is sophisticated.
