Danish family company Søstrene Grene, with 18 shops in the Netherlands, is opening a new distribution centre in the Netherlands. The logistics centre, built in close cooperation with developer Prologis, will be certified as a sustainable construction and will shorten the distance to the brand's customers and shops in the Netherlands and other European markets, contributing to CO2 reductions in several areas. The retail chain expects the new distribution centre, located in Venlo, to be commissioned around autumn 2025.
Søstrene Grene is a Danish family-owned retail chain with 18 shops in the Netherlands and more than 300 shops across Europe. The brand offers a wide range of home decoration, furniture, hobby items, kitchen supplies, toys, specialty foods and sweets, gift wrapping, party supplies and more. The family business is now run by the second generation after the founders.
According to Mikkel Grene, co-owner and group CEO, a second distribution centre outside Denmark will help bring the popular retail chain closer to its customers in the region and contribute to the brand's ambitious sustainability goals:
"We are very happy with this location in the Netherlands. We have been present in the Dutch market for many years, welcoming Dutch customers since the opening of our first shop in 2012. We launched our Dutch webshop in 2020, and the Netherlands is a very important market for us. With this central location, we can shorten the route to our Dutch customers, as well as to customers in the central and southern part of Europe," says Mikkel Grene.
