We recently had the pleasure of speaking with the team of Hurtado, a Spanish luxury furniture brand with a legacy dating back to 1940, about their experience at High Point Market. In this interview, they shared insights into their 50th consecutive appearance at the event, the innovative designs they showcased, and the current market. Hurtado also discussed their evolving presence in global markets, particularly in the US.

Can you tell us more about the history of Hurtado and how it was founded?
'Hurtado was established in 1940 in Valencia, Spain and was founded by creating handcrafted wooden statues carved for Spanish churches. The excellence of tradition in handcrafted pieces has driven the brand's dedication to deliver high quality products, and its commitment to paying attention to even the smallest details. With nearly 85 years as an influential leader in the global luxury furniture industry, the third generation of the Hurtado family continues to uphold its passion for excellence by combining traditional handcrafting techniques with innovative design.'
In what markets is the brand most active?
'Hurtado is active in a variety of global markets, with strong presences in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Our ability to customise furniture to meet diverse cultural preferences and design aesthetics makes us particularly popular among high-end residential and hospitality projects. The U.S. remains a key market for us, where the demand for unique, handcrafted, and luxurious furniture is ever-growing.'
How is the market right now? And how does the market in the US differ from Spain?
'The U.S. market is dynamic and with a strong focus on customisation. American clients often look for unique pieces that not only meet their design preferences but also offer functionality tailored to their lifestyles. This is why Hurtado offers a large range of customisation abilities, including over 50 wood finishes, metals, fabrics, porcelains, marbles, and various dimensions. Our Evolution line (contemporary line) is popular for the design freedom it offers, and allows clients to bring their creative vision to fruition while meeting individual needs.
In Spain, the market is more diverse, with clients ranging from those seeking contemporary designs to those who appreciate timeless, artisanal pieces. While both markets value quality, the approach to furniture selection differs.'

This year was particularly special as we celebrated our milestone of attending 50 consecutive markets, a testament to our enduring commitment to this important event. It's always a fantastic opportunity to connect with interior designers, and buyers who truly understand the value of craftsmanship. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, especially regarding our ability to blend traditional techniques with modern designs. Events like these allow us to strengthen our relationships in the U.S. and showcase our dedication to quality and innovation.'
