In what ways is Tivoli different from other design brands?
'Tivoli sets itself apart by deeply integrating heritage craftsmanship with modern aesthetic appeal and functionality. While many brands focus solely on either traditional techniques or contemporary trends, we strive to harmonise both, offering furniture that respects our cultural roots while embracing innovation. Each piece is not just a product, but a story that reflects our dedication to artistry and quality.'
Tivoli has a deep-rooted tradition in Ukrainian craftsmanship. How do you balance this heritage with modern design and technology?
'Balancing heritage with modernity is at the heart of Tivoli's philosophy. We prioritise understanding and preserving traditional techniques, often handed down through generations. This respect for tradition is then enhanced with cutting-edge technology and modern design principles. By investing in research and development, we ensure that our artisans have the tools and knowledge to innovate while maintaining the authenticity and quality of their craft.'
Given the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, what impact has this had on Tivoli's operations and the day-to-day work of your team of 170 artisans?
'The conflict has indeed posed significant challenges for us, as it has for many in Ukraine. Our primary focus has been the safety and well-being of our workers and staff. We have adapted our operations to ensure continuity and to protect our team, whether that involves adjusting work environments or providing additional support. Despite the difficulties, our commitment to delivering exceptional products remains steadfast, as does our determination to contribute positively to our community and economy.'
The Calm and Striha collections have won several awards recently. What elements in these designs do you believe resonate most with an international audience?
'The Calm and Striha collections have received acclaim due to their ability to blend simplicity with striking design elements, appealing to a global audience that values both aesthetics and functionality. These collections showcase the versatility and universal appeal of our designs, featuring clean lines and natural materials that speak to a communal longing for serenity and sophistication in living spaces. It's the emotional connection we aim to foster with our customers through these designs that truly sets them apart.'
As you look to the future, where do you hope to be in, say, 10 years? Any specific plans?
'Looking ahead, Tivoli envisions expanding our global footprint while continuing to be a beacon of Ukrainian craftsmanship. We aim to innovate further, embracing sustainable practices and materials, ensuring our designs not only look good but also do good for the planet. In 10 years, we hope to have a thriving presence in key international markets, fostering collaborations that celebrate diverse design perspectives and reinforcing our commitment to creativity, quality, and cultural heritage.'
