The Florida franchisee of a well-known Danish chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on November 15, 2024, leading to the closure of its Florida stores.
This decision by the chain, BoConcept's franchisee BC Aventura is part of a broader strategy for restructuring and refranchising. Despite this setback, BoConcept remains committed to expanding its presence in the U.S., with North America seen as a key growth market for the brand.

David Anderberg, BoConcept's country manager for North America, has emphasised that the closures are not a reflection of the brand's performance but rather a necessary step to restructure operations in Florida. BC Aventura will continue to fulfil existing customer orders and manage relations until the end of January 2025, after which BoConcept USA Inc. will assume responsibility for any outstanding transactions.
BC Aventura's bankruptcy filing revealed estimated assets of $100,001 to $500,000, with liabilities ranging from $500,001 to $1 million. The franchisee has between 1 and 49 creditors.
