After almost a quarter of a century, Dutch designer Piet Boon (66) has put his house in Oostzaan, the Netherlands, up for sale. The modern farmhouse, located in quiet, green surroundings, has a surface area of 479 m² and a guide price of €4.5 million. Boon, who has lived in the same village for 40 years, has decided to move to Amsterdam. Quote reports.

The current house, built in 2000, is the third that Boon has designed and lived in, in Oostzaan. The modern farmhouse exemplifies his timeless style, with low-maintenance materials such as steel window frames, plastered walls and a zinc roof. The property features five fireplaces, a swimming pond and a garden designed by Piet Oudolf. Boon calls the house ideal for a family, but it is now too big for him and his wife.
Oostzaan played an important role in Boon's life and career. He built his first house, a farmhouse, there in 1981. He then designed a monumental mansion before building the current farmhouse. With this move, Boon is leaving behind not only his house, but also the nearby nature and tranquillity. "That hurts," he admits in an interview with Quote, although he also looks forward to the convenience of the city.
