Founded in 1991, the Italian company Ele.Tec. S.r.l. has established itself as a key player in the field of electronic device design and engineering, offering cutting-edge solutions in infrared heating technology. Originally conceived as a design studio for third-party electronics, the company has grown to become a leader in high-performance heating systems, catering to both industrial and residential markets.
Giulio Schibuola, Sales & Technical Manager.
'In 2008, Ele.Tec. acquired the operations of a key client, a leader in the design and production of infrared dryers for body shops. This acquisition was accompanied by an expansion of the company's facilities, workforce, and overall organisational capabilities in both design and production. The company has since introduced new products aimed at emerging markets, including industrial and later residential heating solutions,' says Giulio Schibuola, Sales & Technical Manager. 'After nearly 34 years in business, Ele.Tec. is now a market leader in infrared heating technology. Its operations, entirely based in Italy, include a dedicated research and development department. This team focuses on creating more efficient and high-performing products while catering to customer-specific customisation needs.'
How the technology works
Infrared heating operates through radiation, transferring energy from the emitter directly to the human body without heating the surrounding air. 'This method replicates the natural warmth of the sun, and offers several advantages,' Giulio shares. 'Most notably, it delivers heat that is particularly pleasant for the human body while providing significant energy savings.' Unlike conventional methods, infrared technology heats only the area within the cone of radiation, avoiding air heating and subsequent heat loss to the external environment. For instance, heating an open area wouldn't require walls or boundaries for effective warmth.
Interestingly, French regulations prohibit the use of heaters for open outdoor spaces, regardless of the technology employed. While gas-burning heaters, such as patio mushroom heaters, waste most of their energy by dispersing heat into the air, infrared technology does not face this issue. 'Instead, infrared energy is entirely focused on people or surfaces, eliminating unnecessary energy loss. Infrared heating is also safer, as it doesn't involve combustible materials like gas cylinders. It's economical, immediately ready for use, and more comfortable for the human body,' says Giulio.
'The hope is that such regulations may be revised to allow businesses to utilise outdoor spaces, even in colder seasons, by providing comfort to their customers with environmentally friendly solutions like infrared technology.'
With this in mind, Ele.Tec. designs and manufactures its own products, catering to clients such as businesses, hotels, and restaurants. 'All products are made from anodised aluminium, ensuring a corrosion-resistant, long-lasting finish. The emitters are highly efficient and patented, featuring a reflector that focuses energy exclusively forward. With the same power output, these emitters deliver 35% greater efficiency compared to any other emitter currently on the market,' Giulio explains.
EquipHotel debut
This year marked Ele.Tec.'s first participation in the EquipHotel event, and the experience was met with great enthusiasm. 'Visitors showed substantial interest in the showcased products,' shares Giulio, 'and orders were placed directly at the fair.'
The event attracted a smaller but highly engaged audience, with visitors genuinely interested in the exhibition and its offerings. 'The quality over quantity of attendees made the participation particularly rewarding for us.'
