The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall of 1,200 South Shore Inds. baby cribs due to safety concerns. The issue involves the spacing between the crib slats, which exceeds federal safety standards and poses a risk of entrapment for children. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.

The recall includes the South Shore Balka & Olena crib models, available in white and natural wood finishes. Made of wood, these cribs measure 37 inches high, 54 inches long, and 30 inches deep. The model number can be found on a label affixed to one end of the crib.
The affected cribs were sold online between July 2020 and February 2024, with prices ranging from $415 to $475. They were manufactured in Malaysia.
Customers are advised to stop using the cribs immediately. South Shore is offering a full refund to consumers.
Retailers and South Shore are reaching out to buyers directly to facilitate the recall process.
This announcement follows a similar action taken by Health Canada in July, when 1,200 cribs were recalled for the same issue. In August, the Canadian recall was expanded to include 2,560 cribs.
