What is it about Döttling's history and vision that has made it a favourite among discerning clients worldwide?
'Döttling has been crafting luxury safes for over 105 years in Germany, in the same region that gave rise to Porsche or Mercedes-Benz.
Alongside our collection, we offer fully customised pieces tailored to the needs of watch enthusiasts, jewellery lovers, and even those seeking to secure diamonds or rare firearms. This focus on individuality has placed our safes in villas, apartments, and yachts across Monaco, Paris, London, Miami, Dubai or Hong Kong.'
You've been focused on growing Döttling in new markets. How has the reception been in the GCC, and what's next for the brand?
'The GCC has been incredibly receptive to Döttling, especially in Dubai, which in 2023 became a hub for millionaires from around the globe. Despite the low crime rates, the culture here values privacy and exclusivity. Many residents are passionate about watches and jewellery, and a Döttling safe offers the perfect way to showcase and protect these prized collections.
We are also expanding into China, where demand for ultra-luxury goods is skyrocketing. In the GCC, we're forging partnerships with watch retailers, interior designers, and developers to ensure that Döttling is part of the region's luxury ecosystem.'
Döttling is known for its bespoke safes and collaborations. Could you share some of the more iconic partnerships?
'Sure, Döttling thrives on collaboration. One of our most memorable partnerships was with Hublot, where we created a bespoke safe to complement their watches. Similarly, we've worked with Jaeger-LeCoultre to design safes that showcase their watches in an extraordinary way.
But I would say the highlight for many was our collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld. It was a bold project that combined our craftsmanship with Lagerfeld's vision.'
Beyond private clients, Döttling also works with 5-star hotels. Can you tell us more about that?
'Absolutely. Our contract division is one of the most dynamic parts of the business. We've worked on projects for five-star hotels, luxury yachts, and high-end residential developments. Recently, we delivered custom-built safes for the Four Seasons Hotel.
In the yacht sector, space is always at a premium, so our safes are designed to be compact yet opulent. We also collaborate with architects and interior designers to integrate safes into villas and penthouses without compromising on style. For instance, some of our clients want a safe that blends into their walk-in closet, while others prefer it to be a show-piece in their living room or home office. It's all about understanding the client's vision and creating a product that fits perfectly into their world.'
