Maersk, the Danish global shipping leader, has announced an update to its peak season surcharge (PSS) for shipments from Far East Asia to the Middle East. This change will take effect on 19 December 2024 and will remain in place until further notice.

The updated surcharge applies to shipments originating from Brunei, China, Hong Kong China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, South Korea, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and East Timor, heading to destinations including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar.
The surcharge will be set at $750 for all 20-foot containers and $1,000 for all 40-foot containers.
