4.2% increase in goods unloaded in Belgian ports

In the second quarter of 2024, the total quantity of goods unloaded in Belgian sea ports amounted to just under 39 million tonnes. This is an increase of 4.2% compared to the previous quarter and an increase of 1.2% compared to the same quarter of 2023.

The quantity of loaded goods increased by 0.9% compared to the first quarter of 2024 and by 4.5% on an annual basis to just over 33 million tonnes.

In the second quarter of 2024, the total number of sea-going ships arriving in Belgian sea ports amounted to 5,556. This is an increase of 3.9% compared to the previous quarter and a decrease of 4.6% compared to the same quarter of 2023.

The total number of sea-going ships departing from Belgian ports was 5,539, i.e. a 2.9% increase compared to the first quarter of 2024 and a 5.2% decrease compared to the same quarter of 2023.
