Last April, Gert Snel Interiors announced it was quitting. The wholesale company, accounting for 13,000 sq m of cabinets and tables, home accessories and antiques, spoke of challenging years due to the corona pandemic, supply chain disruptions, container costs and economic headwinds. In addition, the company was forced to relocate by 31 December 2024 but could not find comparable business space in the area. A relocation would require too much investment. "Given the circumstances, I have therefore decided to cease business operations by the end of the year. A decision not taken lightly," managing director Hans Holterman informed our Dutch sister Wonen360 last spring. But now the tide has turned and the company has news to report.
Hans Holterman has owned Gert Snel Interiors since 2017.
In a statement, it reported the following:
'Early this year we announced that Gert Snel would close, but thanks to the many heart-warming responses and encouragement from our loyal customers, we explored new opportunities. And with joy we can now report: we succeeded!
It is with some sadness that we say goodbye to our familiar location in Linschoten, but we enthusiastically look forward to a new chapter in De Woonindustrie in Nieuwegein. There, we will open a beautiful new showroom in January 2025. And in the affiliated Beursfabriek, we will keep a wide range of unique furniture, decoration and our own collection in stock. The huge choice remains as versatile and inspiring as ever!
Meanwhile, we are also back on the hunt for authentic pieces and working on a new collection to keep surprising retailers, hospitality entrepreneurs and interior designers. From original finds to handcrafted furniture made from old materials with a hand finish, Gert Snel is always "Unlike any other".
We are still open in Linschoten until 24 December, so we hope to see you again for a last visit to our showroom. From 20 January, we welcome you to our new location in Nieuwegein!
