Founded in 1965 by a group of seven ambitious friends, Santalucia Mobili began as a shared dream to create something meaningful in the world of furniture design. In this interview, we sit down with the CEO of Santalucia Mobili, Jacopo Galli, to explore the company's current position in global markets, and its perspective on industry challenges. We also look back at the successes of 2024 and plans for 2025.
Can you tell us more about how Santalucia Mobili was founded and how it came to be the company it is today?
'Santalucia Mobili was founded in 1965 by seven friends who wanted to make their dream of becoming entrepreneurs come true. This dream was stronger than any difficulties they faced and after all these years the company now has two factories with a total of 40,000 square metres of covered area and 170 employees.'
In which markets is the company active and how are the market conditions right now?
'Italy is still our first market, but we are increasing our export quota in Europe as well as in Asia, the Middle East and the USA.
For our sector In 2024 the market in Italy has held, more than the European market. For the future there are many challenges to face for our economy because of the wars, climate changes and European politics delays in making decisions.'
As we're nearing the end of the year, how do you look back on 2024?
'For our company it has been a year of growth in all areas of business and production. We have launched an update of our night collection Homy.
Homy is a furniture collection for a home that follows the latest design trends. Textured details sit alongside shapes and colours, for style based on modern, functional elements. With Homy Bedroom, attention to detail is what makes all the difference. The most intimate space in the house is decorated with modern designs, creating a bedroom coordinated in its style, thanks to versatile finishes and shared features.'
What were some of the challenges for the industry in 2024?
'We, like all companies, are facing a lot of new challenges. The last one is how to use AI in an ethical approach, as we started to face the sustainable challenge with a strong belief. In fact, we have introduced a path on ESG in our company, called TO DO FUTURE, which focuses on the implementation of the Lean Manufacturing System in production and a lot of initiatives to increase our contribution to the goals of the 2030 ONU agenda.'
What are your plans for 2025?
'We are planning to upgrade our Pratico collection, the entry level brand in our range, and we are planning some investments in branding and new machinery for production, because Santalucia Mobili is not an assembly company, but a producer of furniture for our homes and the homes of our customers.'
