4. Interview with Linnéa Alm Wahlberg from Astrid Textiles
'The EU's new "Green Deal" will be one of the biggest challenges for the textile industry'
In a warehouse just outside of Stockholm, Linnéa Alm Wahlberg, the Communication, Environment, and Quality Manager at Astrid Textiles, shared insights into the brand's history, its commitment to sustainability, and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. The Swedish brand specialises in Scandinavian interior textiles. 'At Astrid, we want to offer a contemporary, timeless and sustainable alternative in an industry with a somewhat toxic past.'
Sustainability is a cornerstone of Astrid's philosophy. 'We try to do as much as we can,' Linnéa emphasised. 'But EU's new "Green Deal" will be one of the biggest challenges for the textile industry.' The new EU regulations aim to reduce the environmental impact of industries like textiles and fashion.
'It's important because textiles and fashion have a big footprint. It's important to do what we can, but it will require continuous effort. We're already working in line with these goals. For example, we try not to mix materials and we offer transparency in our production process. But as a small company, proving compliance will be a challenge.'

3. Interview with Henrik Karlsson, managing director at Hans K
'At Stockholm Furniture Fair there was great international interest in Scandinavian design'
In an exclusive interview with managing director Henrik Karlsson, we delve into the rich history and promising future of the Swedish brand Hans K. From the humble beginnings of the company in the village Kinna, the Swedish textile area, the company has now grown to reach a global market. 'We're a pretty small company, but we have managed to sell the brand relatively worldwide,' Henrik says.
Reflecting on their participation at the fair in Stockholm, Henrik expressed satisfaction with their more modest stand compared to previous years, emphasising the importance of meaningful connections over extravagant displays. 'We have been at the fair for decades. In 2019 we had a few hundred square metre stand, now we had a much smaller one. But if I had to choose next year, I would do this again. The participation was cost-efficient, and what we did for the money was valuable and sustainable. We're here to meet people. To talk to existing customers, but especially for the unexpected meetings.' This was the main focus for Henrik.
Tomorrow, December 20, we'll publish the last part and reveal first and second place on our list of the top 10 best-read interviews on InteriorDaily this year! Don't forget to take a look at the previous numbers in the top 10:
