Dowling, who started her career as a policy analyst for the Nature Conservancy in Washington, D.C., discovered her passion for floral artistry after visiting the Paris atelier of acclaimed florist Christian Tortu in 2000. This transformative experience inspired her to pursue her love for design professionally, eventually leading to her prestigious role at the White House.
Over two weeks, Dowling and her team of 16 designers worked tirelessly to decorate nine spaces within Cheekwood Mansion. With an eye for detail, they adorned dozens of trees with thousands of ornaments, countless lights, and luxurious ribbons, incorporating elements inspired by Cheekwood's 13 gardens. The theme, 'Gifts of the Garden,' evokes nature's beauty through glittering butterfly ornaments, opulent baubles, and rich, nature-inspired colours.
