Unsafe Chinese cribs rejected at UK border

A Chinese-made bedside crib has been blocked at the UK border due to safety concerns, citing a high risk of injury from stability issues.

The product, identified as a grey bedside crib under the Hush By Venture brand, was flagged by the Office for Product Safety and Standards. The crib was found to be prone to overturning when subjected to less than 30N of force in its rocking configuration, posing a risk of injury if a child is ejected.

According to the General Product Safety Regulations 2005, the crib fails to meet essential safety standards, resulting in the rejection of the import at the border.

This incident highlights the importance of stringent safety checks on imported products, particularly those intended for use by young children.
