Royal Award for designer Tom Dixon

Industrial designer Tom Dixon was recently appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), the highest award within the British order. He was awarded this honour in King Charles III's biennial awards programme, in recognition of his influential contributions to British design. This reports theseen.

Dixon, who was already appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2001, is known worldwide for his iconic designs in furniture, lighting and accessories. He made his name with his eponymous household goods brand, which is praised worldwide for its innovative approach to industrial aesthetics.

In addition to Dixon, Peter Clegg, a leading architect, and Neville Brody, a renowned graphic designer, were also appointed OBEs. Also, Timothy John Beech Williamson, an architect, and Richard Wilson, a landscape architect, also received an OBE in this round of awards.

The CBE is a recognition awarded to people who have made an exceptional contribution to their field, and Dixon's work has undeniably had a lasting impact on the world of design. His innovative designs are a fixture in the interior design world, and his work is praised for the way it combines technology, art and functionality.

With this appointment, Dixon joins a select group of British designers and artists recognised for their contributions to the cultural landscape of Britain and beyond.
