IKEA wins lawsuit over brand confusion in India

IKEA has successfully secured interim relief from the Delhi High Court in a trademark dispute with India's IKEY Home Studio. The lawsuit was filed by IKEA, alleging that consumers might be misled into believing that IKEY is associated with IKEA due to similar wording on its website, ikeyllp.com.

An investigation by IKEA identified that IKEY's website stated it 'showcases a wide variety of products from renowned brands'. The court has ruled in favour of IKEA, issuing an interim order requiring IKEY to refrain from using "IKEY", "IKEY Home Studio", or any other mark deceptively similar to IKEA's trademark.

Additionally, the court has ordered the suspension of IKEY's domain name and instructed the company to disclose the registrant details of the domain. IKEY did not attend the hearing, with the case scheduled for further review on 9 May 2025.
