'The focus is therefore increasingly turning to the German market'

Dille & Kamille aims to open five new shops every year

Retail chain Dille & Kamille wants to open five new shops every year, but sees the opportunities for expansion in the Benelux as limited. The focus is therefore increasingly turning to the German market, CEO Hans Geels tells De Tijd.

Expansion potential in Germany
With 51 shops spread across the Netherlands (28), Belgium (15) and Germany (8), Dille & Kamille achieves annual sales of EUR 100 million. Over the past 11 years, the chain opened an average of three shops per year, but that pace is now being increased to five stores per year. In Belgium, the growth potential is limited to a maximum of 25 shops, according to Geels. Although another store will be opened in Knokke this year and Ostend is planned, priority is shifting to Germany. Geels points to the large growth potential in Germany, which, with three times as many inhabitants as the Benelux, also theoretically offers three times as many opportunities.
