In addition to the porta brand (Porta Group), also includes Möbel BOSS, ASKO and Möbel Letz. After careful consideration, the porta owner families have decided to place their almost 60-year-old company in the hands of the XXXLutz Group. With responsibility for the life's work of the porta founders and, above all, responsibility for their employees, they are convinced that this will secure the future of the group of companies in the long term.

The sale is still subject to approval by the antitrust authorities. Both partners have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Paul de Jong, Managing Director of porta-Holding, explains: 'In XXXLutz, we have found a partner whose positioning and locations complement the porta Group well. We are convinced that the new company offers the best conditions for further joint development, especially in a tough competitive environment.'

As part of the takeover, the founding families Gärtner and Fahrenkamp are leaving the company. 'This step is not easy for the founding families, but is being taken in the conviction that it will secure the best development opportunities for the group of companies. The competitive environment, especially in the online furniture trade, requires not only high investments but also strong partnerships. With its strong omnichannel presence, XXXLutz is predestined to play a significant role in the market in the future,' emphasizes Paul de Jong.

'We are looking forward to welcoming our new colleagues in Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Together, we will counter the growing online trade and the harsh economic headwinds in our industry. We firmly believe in brick-and-mortar retail in combination with a strong online store. Customers like to get information online, but ultimately they want to be advised by expert staff in the furniture store and test and feel furniture and furnishings, especially for larger purchases,' says Thomas Saliger, company spokesman for the XXXLutz Group.
