Primark opens first dedicated homeware store in Ireland

Primark has announced plans to launch its first standalone homewares store in March. The new store will open in Belfast city centre, located in Fountain House, and will cover an area of 8,700 square feet. This marks a significant move for the company as it expands its offering in the home and lifestyle market.

The retailer confirmed that the store will feature a wide range of popular homeware items, including bedding, towels, and ceramics. The decision comes in response to the growing success of its homewares business, which has seen considerable expansion since 2021.

Fintan Costello, Head of Northern Ireland and Ireland for the retailer, described the opening as a proud moment for the company. He stated, 'Belfast felt like the perfect place to bring this concept to life, and Fountain House offers an incredible setting in the heart of the city centre to showcase our expanded homeware range.' He also highlighted the popularity of the home collection among Belfast customers, expressing excitement about welcoming them to the new store.

The announcement follows a series of significant milestones for the retailer. Last month, it opened four stores in a single day across the UK, US, France, and Spain, adding a total of 130,000 square feet of retail space. This £37 million investment created 580 jobs and marked a notable step in the company's international growth strategy.

In November, the retailer introduced a new store format to the UK market, further diversifying its offerings. The Belfast opening reinforces its commitment to adapting and innovating to meet customer demand while expanding its footprint in both local and global markets.

The company's decision to establish a dedicated homewares store reflects the increasing consumer interest in stylish yet affordable home products, a trend that has bolstered its sales in recent years.
