Felix Pakleppa, managing director of the Zentralverband des Deutschen Baugewerbes (ZDB), confirms that BAU has once again lived up to its role as a leading industry event: "With the themes of transformation, the future of living and resource and climate management, BAU 2025 is once again setting groundbreaking impulses for the future of the construction industry. It remains the indispensable platform where manufacturers, designers and the construction industry jointly promote progress."
BAU 2025, which took place from 13 to 17 January in Munich, attracted more than 180,000 visitors despite the fair's one-day shortened duration. The number of visitors is only slightly lower than in 2023, when the fair welcomed 190,000 visitors.
Themes
The main themes of BAU 2025 were resilient and climate-proof construction, transformation city/rural/neighbourhood, resource efficiency, modular, series production, productive and "economic construction". These themes reflect current trends in the sector, as Andrea Gebhard, president of the Bundesarchitektenkammer, emphasises: "This year's BAU clearly showed that sustainability is no longer an end in itself, but a central guideline for our actions. From innovative building materials to digital design processes and integrative approaches for urban space - the diversity and quality of the solutions presented is impressive and, given their social relevance, should continue to receive strong political support in the future."
BAU project leader Matthias Strauss thanked his team for the excellent performance: "Despite the difficult market conditions, together we managed to achieve a successful result for BAU 2025. Compliments to all colleagues."
