Polypreen introduces premium mattress range to French market

Polypreen, a Belgian manufacturer specialising in bedding and technical foams, has launched a new range of high-end mattresses in France. Acquired by the Ebac group in 2022, Polypreen aims to strengthen its presence in European markets, particularly in France.

The company, headquartered in Lommel, Flanders, has been a key player in bedding for over five decades. Since 1978, Polypreen has produced high-resilience polyurethane and fire-retardant CME foams, incorporating up to 30% recycled materials. Pascal Barreau, Polypreen's director, highlighted that this control over foam production enhances the quality of its offerings for both the Polypreen and Ebac brands.

The EspritMeuble trade fair in Paris, held in November 2024, marked Polypreen's official entry into the French market. The event showcased its first models tailored to French consumer preferences, signalling the beginning of its development in the country. Barreau noted, 'The range is designed to evolve based on the specific needs of the French market.'

Polypreen's strategy in France includes a premium positioning, targeting the 3rd and 4th market quartiles. Its products will be sold through bedding specialists, excluding generalist retailers. The Velda brand, already established in Belgium and the Netherlands, will play a pivotal role in introducing Polypreen to French consumers.

Although Polypreen and Ebac operate independently, they share synergies in foam production and purchasing. While Ebac caters to more affordable segments, Polypreen focuses exclusively on the premium market, supported by a dedicated sales team.

This initiative underscores Polypreen's commitment to meeting the demands of the French bedding market and expanding its European footprint.
