The economy is calling on the parties to focus their election campaign on strengthening Germany's competitiveness and to initiate an economic turnaround after the federal election. A rally with several hundred participants is planned at the Brandenburg Gate (1 p.m. on the 18th March Square). In addition, regional associations and companies across Germany are taking part in the Economic Warning Day with local activities.
The associations' key demands are a lower tax burden, fewer bureaucratic requirements, no further increases in social security contributions, lower energy costs and more flexibility in labour law in order to improve the chances of domestic companies in the face of fierce international competition.
Managing Director Martin Auerbach points out the dramatic situation in the German mattress industry: 'The German economy is literally screaming SOS. New reports of job cuts, bankruptcies and poor economic forecasts are coming in every day. The reduction in bureaucracy must finally take place NOW, bureaucracy is costing jobs!'
How dramatic the situation in the entire economy is shown by the fact that for the first time such a large alliance of associations, which primarily represent medium-sized companies, has come together. Martin Auerbach calls on all parties to focus fully on economic policy in the election campaign and on an economic turnaround after the election: 'NOW is the time to act so that Germany does not fall behind. Companies with production facilities in Germany bear a high economic and therefore financial risk. The decline of German industry, as a guarantor of security and prosperity, must be stopped!'
The rally is organized by the "Action Alliance for Economic Warning Day," which is joined by around 50 business associations. The project group for organizational preparation is organized by the association DIE FAMILIENUNTERNEHMER eV, the General Association of the German Textile and Fashion Industry eV and the Federal Association of Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services eV in cooperation with the "Initiative New Social Market Economy (INSM)".
