From January to November 2024, goods worth 20.1 billion euros were exported from Germany to Japan. According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), exports increased by 7.5% compared to the same period last year. In total, Germany exported goods worth 1,441.4 billion euros in the first eleven months of 2024 (-1.3% compared to January to November 2023). With a share of 1.4% of total exports, Japan was Germany's 18th most important trading partner in terms of exports.

Imports from Japan fell by 12.2%
From January to November 2024, goods worth 20.9 billion euros were imported from Japan to Germany. This was 12.2% less than in the same period last year. The most important imported goods were data processing equipment and optical products worth 4.3 billion euros (20.6% of total imports from Japan), followed by machinery worth 3.8 billion euros (18.1% share) and motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts worth 2.8 billion euros (13.5% share). With a share of 1.7% of Germany's total imports, Japan ranked 17th among the most important import-side trading partners.
Germany recorded an import surplus of 0.8 billion euros in trade with Japan from January to November 2024.
