A decline in UK mattress imports for the first time in three months

UK mattress imports saw a decline in November, marking the first drop in three months. According to HMRC data compiled by The Furnishing Report, mattress imports for November fell 0.9% year-on-year to £20.2 million.

This decline was primarily driven by reduced shipments from four of the UK's top five mattress trading partners: China (-5%), Denmark (-16%), Ireland (-8.9%), and Poland (-9.3%). However, Romania was an exception, with mattress exports to the UK rising by 3.1% to £2.49 million. Turkey, the sixth-largest exporter, also saw a strong performance, with imports increasing by 23% to £1.8 million.

Despite the decline in November, mattress imports for the year-to-date (January to November 2024) remained up by 4.6%.
