Mzuri Group has acquired the assets of a large textile group, securing the future of the Manchester-based business, which had a turnover of approximately £12 million. The acquisition was completed through Mzuri Group's newly formed Mzuri Textiles vehicle, marking a strategic forward vertical integration for the Northern Ireland-based conglomerate.

The purchase of Evans Textile, valued at £1.88 million, saves 59 jobs and ensures the continuity of Evans Textiles. Mzuri Group, which also owns Decora Blinds, had previously supplied window dressings hardware to Evans through its Vako subsidiary. However, the deal compromises some creditors. While HSBC and its affiliate financing arms will be fully paid, unsecured creditors will miss out on over £2 million. HMRC may receive some payment, but the exact amount remains uncertain.
Additionally, former owners of bedding company Bridstock Gate, which Evans acquired in 2017 but ceased operations in 2023, will not be paid due to an outstanding loan note of approximately £1 million. The deal was facilitated by restructuring advisors at BDO, who were appointed as administrators on Christmas Eve.
