Hypnos celebrates legacy with focus on sustainability and partnerships

British bed manufacturer, Hypnos, marked its 120th anniversary in 2024 with key investments and a commitment to sustainability. Based in Princes Risborough, the company produces 390–460 mattresses daily, with a strong focus on quality, skilled craftsmanship, and environmental responsibility. Hypnos is also well-know for its royal warrant.

Recent investments include a £750,000 partnership with DFDS, introducing an electric Volvo truck for sustainable logistics, and the transition of its fleet to renewable bio diesel (HVO). Future fleet additions are planned, alongside infrastructure improvements like brighter factory lighting and new machinery to boost efficiency.

In 2024, Hypnos implemented a £1.5 million ERP system, enhancing traceability for projects like Woolkeepers and Red Tractor certified wool. This reflects their commitment to using 100% British wool from trusted farms, a practice established in 2019.

The company also streamlined operations, consolidating its activities into a single self-owned facility after ending its lease at Castle Donnington. This "one home of Hypnos" allows for greater efficiency and supports contract business demands. The facility can produce up to 325 units daily on a single shift, with staff trained in advanced skills like tufting and taping.

Celebrating milestones, Hypnos launched two new adjustable mattresses, expanded its pillow top range, and introduced British fabric collaborations. It also partnered with Barnardo's children's charity through its "My First Hypnos" initiative. Looking ahead, Commercial Director Mark Cort aims to build on Hypnos' legacy and drive growth in retail and hospitality sectors.

CEO James Keen emphasised the importance of "key partnerships" in driving growth, while Group Managing Director David Baldry highlighted continuous innovation and staff investment as core strengths. With strong foundations in sustainability, partnerships, and craftsmanship, Hypnos is poised for further growth in 2025.
