Leadership change announced at Danish furniture firm

A leadership transition has been announced at a Danish furniture manufacturer. Takt, known for its sustainable and innovative approach to furniture design, has appointed co-founder Martin Qvist Lorensen as its new CEO. He replaces his brother and fellow co-founder Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, who will now serve as active chairman.

The leadership change aims to 'pursue strategic opportunities, drive the sustainability agenda, and optimise daily operations,' according to the outgoing CEO.

Martin Qvist Lorensen reflected on the company's challenges, attributing financial difficulties to global disruptions such as the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and rising inflation. He noted that a changing consumer market has impacted sales, saying, 'We were too optimistic.' Despite this, the company has seen encouraging growth in its B2B segment.

The new CEO emphasised Takt's commitment to its clear design profile and sustainable business practices as it works to stabilise operations and navigate market conditions. The transition also marks the departure of former board chairman Jans Haarsaae, who served for three years.
