The average cost of a kitchen renovation in the UK saw a dramatic increase of nearly 35% in 2024, according to the 2025 UK Houzz Kitchen Trends Study. The study, based on data from home-owners who completed or planned a renovation between November and December 2024, revealed that median spending on major and minor renovations rose from £13,000 to £17,500. Large kitchen renovations (100 sq ft or more) saw a 25% increase, from £15,000 in 2023 to £20,000 in 2024. Small kitchen renovations now average £4,900.

The survey also highlighted that 71% of home-owners altered their kitchen layout, while 63% upgraded their plumbing, electrical, or heating systems. In terms of aesthetic choices, nearly a third of renovators (31%) used different colours for upper and lower cabinets, with white being the most popular for upper cabinets and green for lower ones.
Worktop upgrades were common, with 92% of home-owners choosing new materials. Engineered quartz was the top material (42%), followed by butcher blocks and laminate (both 14%). White was the preferred colour for worktops (55%). Only 24% of home-owners cited cost as a factor in their choice of worktop material.
The majority of home-owners (93%) hired professionals for their renovations. Of those, 45% used a kitchen fitter, 44% consulted a designer, and 28% employed a trades person.
Houzz also predicted that pink will emerge as a popular kitchen colour in 2025.
