Danish furniture maker struggles against counterfeit production

A report from Wood Supply highlights the growing issue of counterfeit furniture manufacturing, with concerns over mass production of imitation products in China.

Carl Hansen & Søn, a renowned Danish furniture company, is facing increasing challenges, according to the article, due to unauthorised copies of its iconic designs being sold through global trading platforms. Co-owner Inger Marie Jensen Hansen claims to have heard rumours that 'there are 100 factories that manufacture our Y-chairs in China.' Despite efforts to combat counterfeit sales, shutting down every operation has proven nearly impossible.

The company has partnered with the Rights Alliance, an organisation dedicated to protecting creative industries, and has successfully closed approximately 1,000 websites selling imitation products. However, the influx of counterfeit goods remains a significant issue.
