Inflation calculator provides information about personal inflation rate:
With the Federal Statistical Office's personal inflation calculator, consumers can adjust their monthly consumption expenditure for individual goods sectors according to their own consumption behaviour and calculate a personal inflation rate.
Methodological notes:
The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) is used in the euro area for monetary policy purposes. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the HICP also differ in their coverage, methodology and weighting. These differences explain the differences between the CPI and the HICP for Germany. Unlike the HICP, the calculation of the CPI also takes into account private households' expenditure on owner-occupied housing, gambling and broadcasting fees. In addition, the HICP's goods weights are updated annually. Explanations on this are available on the Federal Statistical Office's website and a methodology paper.
Further details:
The final results for January 2025 will be published on February 13, 2025.
