Interview with Marco Roseano, owner of Chairs & More

'Maison&Objet was a good fair, but there were less professionals than in previous years'

Since its founding in 2007, Chairs & More has been dedicated to producing high-quality seating solutions, crafted entirely in Italy. Specialising in the contract and hospitality sectors, the company has built a strong presence in markets across Europe, North America, Australia, and the Emirates. We spoke with Marco Roseano, the owner of Chairs & More, about the company's journey, Maison&Objet, market trends, and what lies ahead in 2025.

Marco's journey into the furniture industry began with a passion for design and innovation. 'In 2007, I decided to start my own business,' he shares. Over the years, Chairs & More has developed a reputation for producing durable and stylish chairs using polyurethane, a material known for its strength and versatility.

While the company initially focused on the European market, it has since expanded internationally. 'Most of our business is abroad, with Europe being our main market,' Marco explains.

Navigating market challenges
Despite its global reach, Chairs & More faces significant challenges in today's market. Like for many others in the industry, 2024 was a tough year. 'Competition is very hard,' Marco acknowledges. With rising freight costs, and supply chain disruptions, maintaining a competitive edge requires constant adaptation. 'The last year has been tough with the crisis of raw materials—timber, iron, chemical components—all while energy prices remain high.'

Maison&Objet
At Maison&Objet in Paris, Chairs & More showcased some of its signature pieces, including the Pampa chairs and stools, Lena, Bel, and Gotham chairs—the latter being both a bestseller and Marco's personal favourite. However, while the event attracted many visitors, Marco observed a shift in engagement. 'The fair was good, but contacts weren't as strong as in the past. There were lots of visitors, but not many were truly interested or industry professionals. There are definitely less than previous years.'

A key part of Chairs & More's success is its collaboration with talented designers. 'We cooperate with many different designers, and we're always open to new collaborations,' Marco notes. The company welcomes design proposals, ensuring fresh ideas continue to shape its product line. The popular Gotham chair for example, has been designed by Dario Delpin. Since the 70s, he has been developing interior and furnishing projects with Italian design companies. Taking advantage of decades of experience in the design of modern seating, in 2007 began to design products for Chairs & More.

The company also works with the Thai duo Designerd. Stemming from diverse design backgrounds, they seamlessly fuse their collective Asian-European design expertise across furniture, objects, and graphic design. For Chairs & More they designed the Lena.

Looking ahead to 2025
Chairs & More is already preparing for new projects and collections in the coming year. However, the company remains flexible about which fairs to attend in 2025. 'We're working on a new collection now but haven't decided on our event schedule yet,' Marco says. Despite the slow start to the year, Marco remains optimistic. 'We have many projects in the pipeline, and we're focused on finding the right clients to grow our brand further.'
