Furnished rentals remain a key solution amid housing crisis

The Lodgis 2024 Barometer reveals that furnished rentals continue to address France's strained housing market. The average stay in furnished accommodation has surpassed eight months, as high interest rates and limited rental supply deter homeownership.

Rents have increased by 1.8%, with Paris remaining the most expensive city. Tenant demographics are shifting, with fewer European renters due to economic challenges and the Paris 2024 Olympics, while North and South American tenants are rising. French tenants in Île-de-France have also increased due to affordability concerns.

Despite rent controls in some cities, demand outstrips supply, pushing prices up. Regulatory changes, including stricter taxation, may further reduce available properties. Experts predict either market stabilisation or continued rent increases in 2025, depending on government interventions and the return of foreign tenants. Furnished rentals remain a crucial alternative in a volatile property landscape.
