Sharp drop in sales for Maisons du Monde

French furniture and decoration retail chain Maisons du Monde experienced another sharp drop in sales in 2024. Sales fell 11.2 per cent to €1 billion, following an earlier 9.3 per cent drop in 2023. Decorative products in particular sold less well, down 14 per cent, while furniture sales declined by 7.3 per cent.

Restructuring plan should bring recovery
CEO François-Melchior de Polignac hopes the transformation plan launched in early 2023 will revitalise the chain. The plan, which will last three years, includes cost cuts and a review of the product range. Part of this includes cutting 91 jobs at its headquarters in Paris and Nantes. By the end of 2024, Maisons du Monde had 338 shops, 11 fewer than a year earlier.
