String Furniture to launch the Stockholm series at the Stockholm Furniture Fair

In 2025, String Furniture, the leading Scandinavian design brand, will unveil an exclusive shelving collection – String Pocket Stockholm. Inspired by the city where its founders, Nisse and Kajsa Strinning, lived and worked, the series is a tribute to Stockholm's architecture and history.

Originally designed in 2005 by Nisse and Kajsa Strinning, the String Pocket became their final contribution to the Scandinavian design portfolio. To mark its 20th anniversary, String Furniture will introduce four new colours, each inspired by iconic locations in the capital. The String Pocket Stockholm series will debut at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, taking place from 4th - 8th February 2025.

This colour captures the raw, modern aesthetic of Sergels torg, one of Stockholm's most central and dynamic meeting places. The square is known for its iconic elliptical fountain, surrounded by geometric tiles in black, white and grey, and a tall glass obelisk that illuminates the square at night. Since its inauguration in 1967, Sergels torg has been an important stage for cultural events, manifestations and celebrations.

String Pocket Stockholm, Nybroblå (Blue)
Inspired by Nybroviken, one of Stockholm's most beautiful waterfronts. With revered buildings such as the Swedish National Museum and Dramaten - the Art Nouveau national stage for theatre, Nybroviken is where history and culture meet. A bustling location where archipelago boats dock and a popular meeting place for Stockholmers and visitors alike, Nybroviken is a hub of activity.

String Pocket Stockholm, Oxtorgsröd (Red)
A warm colour inspired by the charming Oxtorget square, a hidden gem behind 'Kungstornen', the King's Towers. The square is surrounded by buildings in understated, soft colour tones with early 1920s functionalist architecture. The square has a calm and warm character that makes it a perfect place for reflection while being a reminder of how Stockholm combines the modern with the historical.

String Pocket Stockholm, Tegnérgrön (Green)
Inspired by Tegnérlunden, a lush green haven in the heart of Stockholm, surrounded by charming turn-of-the-century houses. It is home to statues honouring two of Sweden's greatest writers: August Strindberg, who lived nearby in the Blue Tower, and Astrid Lindgren, whose work has influenced generations. Tegnérlunden has long served as a source of inspiration for writers and artists, making it a unique and significant part of Stockholm's cultural life.

Discussing the launch, Bo Hellberg, CMO at String Furniture states, "Nisse and Kajsa Strinning designed the modernist classic String System in 1949, and their final design, the compact String Pocket, was launched in 2005. Since Kajsa and Nisse lived and worked in Stockholm it seemed very natural to launch a collection inspired by the colours of Sweden's capital. The four new colours, pay tribute to city's architecture and history, present and past - Nybroblå, Oxtorgsröd, Tegnérgrön, and Sergelgrå. In 2025, we are delighted to honour the 20th anniversary of the String Pocket with this new series, a tribute to Nisse and Kajsa Strinning's original design from 2005."

String Furniture will launch the Stockholm series at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, 4th-8th February on stand A05:34.
