Prominent retailer acquires seven Minnesota furniture stores

A Twin Cities-based furniture chain has been acquired, ending more than 45 years of family ownership. The deal includes seven Minnesota locations and a main distribution centre, with around 100 employees affected. The former owner will join the leadership team of the acquiring company.

South Dakota-based Furniture Mart USA purchased Becker Furniture, expanding its presence in Minnesota to 31 stores. The company already operates 24 locations in the state and 36 more across Iowa, Illinois, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Former owner Joel Huseby said the acquisition brings "a wealth of resources and buying power" to customers. He also praised the leadership of Furniture Mart USA's Bill Hinks.

CEO Cory Price welcomed the Becker team, promising 'increased selection, better prices, in-stock merchandise, and faster delivery.' The company assured customers that familiar staff and service would remain unchanged.
