Born in Sutton Coldfield in 1952, Cooke joined his father, Ted, in building the family business, which grew to become one of the UK's largest independent furniture retailers. Starting with a showroom in Sutton Coldfield in the late 1970s, the business expanded with the opening of a larger showroom in Birmingham. In 1993, Cooke opened a second showroom in Christchurch, Dorset. Under his leadership, the company also added two self-storage sites.
The Cooke family described Graham as a 'beloved and larger-than-life character in the furniture industry,' known for his strong work ethic, business acumen, and lasting relationships across the trade. His passion for business was matched by his love for travel, trade shows, and family events, where he was often heard sharing stories.
Cooke is survived by his wife, Lindsay, three daughters, and 10 grandchildren. The family said he will be remembered not only for his contributions to the furniture industry but also for his kindness, unwavering spirit, and devotion to his family.
