Interview with CEO Gianfranco Salvi

'The wallcovering market is in a dynamic phase, with growth opportunities and challenges'

Texam was born from a clear vision: to transform wall surfaces into works of art by combining artisanal tradition, sophisticated design, and technological innovation. The idea was to go beyond the traditional concept of wallpaper, bringing a new level of refinement and exclusivity. We talk with the CEO Gianfranco Salvi to talk about the current market and the company's recent exhibit at Heimtextil.

'The Texam brand, as we know it today, was officially founded in 2010 when my Italian company, Italreflexes, already a wallpaper manufacturer, acquired its ownership. Over time, the brand has become synonymous with luxury and craftsmanship, offering a range of collections that span from modern minimalism to the most opulent interpretations. These designs have captivated an international clientele and have been featured in prestigious interior design projects worldwide.'

In what markets is the brand most active?
'Europe represents one of our main markets, thanks to its long-standing design tradition and focus on quality. However, we are also active globally, with a strong presence in the world's most demanding luxury markets, such as the Middle Eastern and Asian markets.'

How is the market right now? Are there any challenges?
'The wallcovering market, like other sectors related to high-end design, is experiencing a dynamic phase, with growth opportunities but also challenges that require constant adaptation. Consumers are increasingly attentive to the origin of materials and their environmental impact, while demanding greater customisation and innovation. They seek unique solutions that tell stories and seamlessly fit their spaces. This creates a need for greater flexibility from manufacturers, who must be able to offer versatile collections as well as bespoke solutions.'

As we've started the new year, how do you look back on 2024?
'2024 was not an easy year for the industry, but it also marked important milestones for Texam, such as the launch of new collections that combine modern printing technologies and eco-sustainable materials, meeting the growing demand for luxury design that also respects the environment. Looking back, we can say that we have strengthened our position in key markets and laid a solid foundation for the future.'

What was the biggest challenge for the industry in 2024?
'As mentioned earlier, the biggest challenge for the industry has undoubtedly been finding the right balance between technological innovation, sustainability, and market demand in an ever-changing global landscape. In addition to this, global logistics has remained a critical issue throughout the year. The difficulty in sourcing certain high-quality raw materials, combined with delays in international deliveries, has required extremely flexible planning and improved supplier relationships to ensure efficiency, consistency, and punctuality.'

You've just returned from Heimtextil, how was the fair and what did you showcase?
'We can say with great satisfaction that the fair went very well, confirming that we are moving in the right direction. Participating in Heimtextil is always an extraordinary opportunity to connect with industry professionals, showcase the latest innovations, and strengthen existing relationships.

We had the chance to meet a wide range of enthusiastic interlocutors, demonstrating how Texam does not follow trends but anticipates them. At the fair, we also presented an exclusive preview of our upcoming Essential collection, which represents a return to simplicity with a touch of modern innovation.'

What are your plans for 2025?
'2025 will be a significant year for Texam—a year of growth and innovation, where we aim to strengthen our position and remain a key reference in our industry. Our goal is to continue investing in research and development to discover new materials and low-impact production techniques, further reducing emissions and resource consumption without compromising the sophistication of our products. We will maintain the high standards of aesthetics and quality that our customers expect.

We will introduce collections that explore innovative materials, unique textures, and patterns inspired by natural elements and folklore from cultures around the world, with the goal of offering even more personalized solutions adaptable to every interior design style.

A fundamental aspect for Texam is our continuous pursuit of innovation and quality. Our vision is to create a world where every space—whether a residence, a luxury hotel, or a commercial environment—can tell a unique story through the design of our wallcoverings and positively influence the daily lives of those who inhabit it.

Furthermore, I want to highlight that Texam's success would not be possible without our team. The passion, dedication, and expertise of our staff are at the core of every product we create. Every new project, every new collection, is the result of the collective work of a team that shares the same vision: a luxury that is not just about appearance but genuinely responds to the real and concrete needs of our clients.'
