Scandinavian retailer JYSK is set to open a "non-traditional" store in Ukraine, located underground in Kharkiv. The decision follows ongoing air alerts in the city, which have forced the company's existing store to close for over 50% of its operating hours.

JYSK Ukraine's Country Director, Ievgenii Ivanytsia, stated that while ensuring employee and customer safety remains the company's priority, Kharkiv residents are growing frustrated with restricted shopping opportunities. Instead of shutting down operations, JYSK has opted for an alternative approach by opening a new store in a safer location.
The new store will be situated on the -3 floor of the "Nikolskiy" shopping centre, in a space that meets basic shelter requirements. This underground location will allow customers to continue shopping even during air alerts.
On 7 February 2025, JYSK signed the lease agreement for the new store, with plans to open it in spring 2025.
